This post was originally posted at Mountain State University LeaderTalk and is reposted here with permission. I re-post it now as a reminder to myself to keep focused on my priorities. These are busy days, and I want to be sure to that I am using my time to make a difference.

What can you do today to make a difference?

Think, for a moment, about your most important priorities. If you’re not sure what they are, take time to identify them. Ask yourself: What are my most important priorities?

Then think about what you can do.

What can you do to make sure that you take time to address those priorities today?

Turn off the excuses and know this: you can do something.

Your day is going to get filled with something. If you’re anything like me, your day may be filled with a jumble of somethings, all rushing past. It’s so easy to get distracted from what really matters.

So stop. Listen. And make a plan, a plan to do something today to make a difference in your world. It doesn’t have to be big, but it does have to be something.

Set time aside to do what’s most important to you. Set time aside to do what’s most important to your family, your friends. Set time aside to do something within your organization. Set time aside to do something for others.

It doesn’t have to be big, but it does have to be something.

Do something.
