This post begins with a confession: sometimes I think about quitting.

Don’t worry โ€” I don’t think about it in a serious way. I think about it in a wondering way. I wonder what it would be like to drop my kids off at school and come home to a cup of coffee and a novel, a load of laundry and a trip to the grocery store โ€” open-ended days with no deadlines.

I wonder because, honestly, this is hard work.

If you are new to this blog, I’ll give you a quick snapshot ย of what I do: I lead a growing social media company. This is my 8th month in. I coordinate 5 subcontractors to serve 20+ clients. I am also a mom to three school-aged daughters, and I’m in charge of drop-off, pick-up, after-school entertainment and homework wrangling, dinner…

So there are competing priorities and high expectations (mine and others’). There is responsibility. There is a never-ending to do list and all the ideas I want to pursue but haven’t yet.

There are doubts. And fears. (Yes, there are.)

So, I wonder. I imagine life without this work.

And every time, I come back to this: I love this work. It makes a difference for me, and it makes a difference for others. This is what I am meant to do. It’s worth it.

So I will keep going.
