William G. Steiner is the President of Executive Coaching Concepts, a consulting firm dedicated to assisting senior executives in taking their individual and organizational performance “TO THE NEXT LEVEL.” He has provided valuable counsel to senior executives throughout his career. Willy estimates that his 350-plus coaching clients in North America, Europe and Asia, in over 50 companies, have provided him a broad range of experiences that enhance his perspectives greatly.

In addition, he has led hundreds more clients in seminars, presentations and speaking engagements, both in his corporate stops and in his teaching and community work.

Willy has assisted in meeting diverse organizational challenges, such as complex international mergers and divestitures, blending of distinct organizational and national cultures, and supporting growth in international markets. Willy fine-tuned his skills in leading organizational change, building high-performing teams and devising innovative incentive systems with General Electric, RCA Corp. and Galileo International. He has assisted executives in driving change by creating urgency, focus and alignment, with a keen eye for the communications implications and insights into the relationships that need to be sustained and cultivated along the way.

In addition, Willy was the President of SEI, a wholesale distributor of consumer electronics and appliances throughout the Midwest. He has a broad range of international experience and is very interested in leadership in global organizations. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA in Industrial Relations, both from Indiana University.

Willy is the proud father of three grown children who are successfully making their way in the world. He lives in Evanston, Illinois, just a few blocks from Lake Michigan. He is an avid golfer, storyteller, walker and reader, and he loves to travel. He writes a leadership blog every other week on his website, www.executivecoachingconcepts.com. This is a great book on leadership, written in a concise manner that is useful to anyone who is busy. Mr. Steiner does a great job of organizing the book so that it works well as a cover-to-cover read or as a reference on specific topics. The content is primarily made of research from other management and leadership experts combined with Mr. Steiner's deep experience as a leader himself. While to bulk of the book is geared towards business leaders, I have found much of the advice to be useful in other leadership roles outside of the business world, particularly because Mr. Steiner emphasizes the personal side of leadership (such as the fact that leadership is a relationship between the leader and the followers).

This book is a great read for leaders and aspiring leaders.

I bought this book for my son who is about to graduate from a Top 10 business school. He said that he felt he learned more from this book about how to be a better leader (and employee) than he did in any class. Both he and I actually learned many life lessons as well. I worked in the medical field for many years and certainly wish that my bosses had read this book! This is the type of advise that will keep employees working beyond what is expected of them and make the workplace environment such that you will have minimal turnover. Unfortunately, too many people graduate from school in virtually every profession without having ever been taught how to be an effective leader. Mr. Steiner's lessons in his book can also be applied to parents, coaches, teachers, volunteers, and really just about anyone trying to help people to reach their full potential both in the work place and in life! This book was very easy and interesting to read.

The sections on time management and communication are very well done. In other section the author simply comments on what others have written, and if you've read the originals there is little new. For someone who is new to the field of leadership this is a good starting point.

I'll start by admitting that I'm somewhat bias as I've known Willy for a long time. On the other hand, that's also what allows me to vouch for him and his work more fully.

Willy has worked with some of the top executives at Fortune 100 and 500 companies for the past 20 years. This book contains his absolute best thinking on the topics most pertinent to leaders in any industry, based on real-world scenarios from the clients he's coached, as well as time-tested models and theories from some of the world's smartest minds. Willy is also an amazing story-teller with a great sense of humor, which makes this book both highly practical and genuinely enjoyable to read.

I couldn't recommend "Discover the Joy of Leadership" more highly for anyone who manages others or who must get their work done through and with others.

This is a terrific "how to" guide for leadership. It covers all of the competencies I coach to with my team. The way the book is laid out I'm able to quickly assign a chapter or two to a team member and then follow that up with a conversation about how they can use the ideas for improvement. This book is chockfull of common sense ideas to improve your own skills or those of your team.

This book breaks down very common, yet complex, business challenges and lays out strategies on how to tackle them. What I really like and respect about what this book does is it lays out obsticles we all face at work and it asks you to think through to the optimal solution, while giving you the tools to do so effectively and efficiently along the way.
