Social Media Specialist

Job Summary

Work Hours and LocationThis will vary depending on circumstances. This is a full-time, non-exempt employee position offering benefits. If the ideal candidate is outside our home office area in Lambertville, Michigan, remote work is available; however, we are seeking to hire an employee in a state where we have a business entity (SC, MI, OH, MA, NM, AZ, or TX)

Reporting RelationshipThis position reports to the Social Media Manager and works with an interdisciplinary team. Primary work includes understanding a client’s voice and goals, writing social calendars for client’s approval, creating canva graphics, and scheduling approved social content.

The Successful CandidateThe ideal candidate will be experienced in effectively communicating with diverse audiences, interest and aptitude for social media marketing, strong writing skills, effective time management skills,  attention to budgets, and willingness to coordinate work with a virtual team. The successful candidate will be well-versed in current digital marketing approaches and tools related to their area of responsibility and demonstrate a commitment to staying abreast of and experimenting with new strategies and tools as they emerge.

In addition to being a self-starter who takes a high degree of ownership and initiative, the successful candidate must possess the ability to work with colleagues both in-person and virtually, work independently with little supervision, and seek out needed information.

Accountabilities

  • Effectively collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is delivered as promised and within budget.
  • Effectively learn and understand diverse client voices to create content to fit their brands and goals.
  • Consistently provide timely and thorough communication to all levels of the organization.
  • Discover, experiment with, and integrate the use of new mobile and web-based technologies to continue to improve our ability to deliver results to our clients and/or position the company to be a leader in the industry.
  • Model company values in words and actions and coach direct reports in doing the same.

Job Responsibilities

    • Understand and implement social media strategies for assigned clients.
    • Create content aligned with the client’s voice and within client budgets.
    • Social media implementation tasks as assigned, including but not limited to:
      • uploading and editing blog posts in WordPress
      • creating editorial content calendars
      • writing and scheduling social media content
      • creating graphics for social media
      • engaging professionally on client social media channels
      • writing email marketing communications and utilizing email marketing tools to set up and send marketing blasts, newsletters, etc.
    • Gather social media metrics and work with the Social Media Marketing Manager or Account Marketing Manager to create weekly and monthly reports of progress toward goals.
    • Partner with other team members to ensure work progresses in a timely manner with high-quality results.
    • Research and recommend hashtags for increasing engagement on client social media channels.
    • Utilize our existing systems and processes as designed while offering constructive feedback for improvements.
    • Participate in learning the latest social media best practices and technologies.

    Technical requirements

    • Must be proficient in using Google Drive, Docs, Sheet, and Slides, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Must be proficient in commonly used social media channels including, but not limited to, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and X (Twitter).
    • Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, Hubspot, Canva, and Basecamp preferred.
    • Experience with podcast software, Kajabi or other online course platforms, and digital advertising including social media, Google, and Amazon is considered a plus.

    Education and work experience

    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English, or the equivalent, relevant work experience.
    • Some experience with social media marketing.
