I’ve told you about the book launch that I’m working on, right?
From my excitement and the fact that I am promoting the book tirelessly, you might infer that I like and believe in the book and its message. You are absolutely correct in thinking that.
What I haven’t done yet is tell you:
1. What I like about the book
2. Why I hope you will buy the book on launch day
3. Why I hope you will do more than just buy the book
4. What I want you to do after you buy the book, and
5. What role I will have in the Bud to Boss Community
Since there are five days left until the launch, I want to share those five things with you today.
1. What I like about the book.
I could write an entire post about what I like about the book. Maybe I will. For now, though, I will tell you that I liked and respected both Kevin and Guy before I read the book. When I started to read the book, though, my respect and admiration for them grew even deeper. Here’s why: these guys live out the stuff they write about, every day.
I hadn’t been working for Kevin very long when I got to the chapter in the book about DISC profiles. The chapter explains how you can communicate effectively with others by choosing to communicate with them in ways that fit their personality profile. Kevin, in interacting with me, had determined my profile — I’m an “I” —and seemed to be following an invisible script, interacting in all the ways the book says are best for working with an “I.” He did it in an authentic, effortless way that cemented our working relationship very quickly and effectively.
2. Why I hope you will buy the book on launch day.
I hope you’ll buy the book on launch day because our team has been working hard to add value for you on launch day in the form of bonuses. I don’t know yet what all the bonuses are, but I know that they will be relevant to you if you want to learn and develop as a leader.
3. Why I hope you will do more than just buy the book.
Once you buy the book, I hope you will actually read it and put into practice all the helpful suggestions Kevin and Guy have for how you can improve as a leader.
4. What I want you to do after you buy the book
After you buy the book, I hope you will engage with the Bud to Boss Community, where you can find even more helpful information and resources to help you grow as a leader.
5. What role I will have in the Bud to Boss Community.
I will be directing a lot of what happens in the Bud to Boss Community, initiating discussions in our forum, posting content on our blog, welcoming and interacting with our members, and inviting you to share your stories with others. Stories are a powerful way to learn and grow, and we hope that you will choose to add your stories to our community.
Five days!
What other questions do you have about the book, the community, or my involvement with this project? Ask away, and I’ll reply and interact in the comments.

Uncle!!! You’ve convinced me to buy the book. By the way, I get a 404 error on the Bud to Boss Community link, so you might want to have your resident geek take a look at it. I look forward to reading that page, once the link is fixed.
I’m in agreement with a comment that I read on one of your previous posts: the personal approach that you take in your writing style is very reader friendly.
Dean — fantastic! Maybe there are some people in your organization who would enjoy the book, too? 🙂
I fixed the link, all on my own. I have no idea what was wrong with it before and I appreciate you letting me know that it was broken.
Thanks for your continued engagement with me here. I look forward to putting some energy into developing my own stuff here once the craziness of the launch is over.
